That photo-shooty thingy

It did indeed happen!

Sheila and Keith and I met out at the Colorado Railroad Museum on Friday night (Greg came later), all arrayed in Steamy finery. It was Steamy, and it was also steamy; with the temps in the upper, upper 90's, we were pretty hot. And not just sexy. Even when showing off the Best Drawers Ever.

Hot enough that I think we were all beat on Saturday; I know I slept in and then had an afternoon siesta - a long one. I don't know how our foremothers did it, especially south of the Yukon. But they did.

By the grace of the Museum, we had access into cars that aren't open to the public, the
Colorado Midland Observation Car No. 111 (S), and the Chicago Burlington & Quincy Business Car No. 96 (S) cars. Both are exquisite examples of the finest in railroad travel, with lovely - and luxurious - appointments. They are both standard guage cars, so they are roomy; the CBQ sports an on-board kitchen. However, they were hot. It almost felt like stepping into air conditioning when we emerged on the cars' platforms. But only for a minute.

We arrived with a bunch of props and changes of clothes, but due to our small numbers, we didn't get to create a lot of variety in the shots. (We expected 6-10, and got 4.) It also didn't help that we arrived later than planned and had to rush to dress and do hair/makeup. Lessons learned for next time.

There were a lot of things I wanted to do, that I just didn't have the resources for. I would love to have a switch for my hair, for instance, to really create that Victorian up-do. I forgot to make my glovettes, and wish I could have gotten to spats. And I really need a pair of Victorian shoes. I've found out that I should never wear a sleeveless top in photographs. And finally, that I really need to get a better base (makeup) than the unreasonably expensive one that I bought in a salon a couple of years ago.

Things to put on the list for AnomalyCon, I suppose.

We have to thank Bob Strle and his meetup, the Southwest Denver Photo Team. They were enthusiastic and accomodating, and created some fantastic photos. The full collection of photos can be viewed on their meetup page. I hope that we can do it again some time.
